I am Sandeep and have been building and programming robots for a decade now. I got my first NXT kit in 2010 and haven’t stopped since then! My sister Riya started building robots in 2015, and enjoys building with LEGO bricks in general.

I had been an avid builder with LEGO bricks before I got fascinated with robots. I have designed countless airplanes and spaceships since age 5. I got my first taste of robots at a competitive level in 2011, when I made a model of an MRI machine, motorised it and presented it for the “Body Forward” season of FIRST LEGO League as a junior participant.

Later that year, I teamed up with my friends (Riya was underage then :)) and designed my first competitive robot for the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2011. It was a “Guide Robot” that had to traverse a maze. Our team won the Bangalore Regionals competition and stood at second place across India. We got the honour of representing India at WRO World Finals 2011, in Abu Dhabi. Our team “RoboKids” finished at 16th place in the world that year. Participating in the World Finals truly opened my mind to mind boggling fast and precise robots - the next few years were spent in learning and expanding our knowledge about good building and programming techniques.

I am Riya, and I joined the team in 2015 when I turned 8 and started building robots along with Sandeep. I love LEGO - be it system or technic ! And I enjoy learning cool techniques to build and program robots that we build. In recognition of my achievements at WRO, I was chosen to carry my national flag at the Flag Ceremony of WRO - an absolute honour for me!

We rechristened our team as Team BrickMasters in 2016 :)

Together, we have participated and won multiple India Championship of WRO, regionally, nationally and internationally. We had the honour of representing India at the World Finals of WRO 5 times. We have also won First and Second position at the National level multiple times.

Our hard work and perseverance finally bore fruit at the WRO World Finals in Chiang Mai, Thailand when we won the Second Runners Up award and bagged a Bronze medal in Junior High Regular category.

We would like to thank teams from across the world, who we have learned from. We are forever grateful to our parents who have mentored us throughout this fantastic journey.
